Season Wrap Up with Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club

By Keevers Team

With the AFL Grand Final happening over the weekend (up the Lions!)  – we thought it was the perfect time to reflect on the game and the 2025 grassroots junior footy season.

From weekend mornings at Seacrest Oval to afternoons filled with cheering parents, sizzling snag stands, and the sound of footy boots hitting the turf, it’s been another incredible season for the Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club.

Here in Sorrento, community and footy go hand-in-hand. Backing our junior players is something we’re proud to be a part of, because it’s about more than just the game – it’s about friendships, teamwork, and growing the next generation both on and off the field.

A Local Story That Runs Deep

For Ray White Keevers Group director, Ben Keevers, this club has been part of his life for decades.

Ben first pulled on the brown and gold back in 1989 as a seven-year-old playing Freeball (now Auskick). He played right through the junior years, finishing his last season in 1998 at age 16 in the 17’s team – coached by his dad, Brad. Along the way, he celebrated two unforgettable Premierships: the 15’s in 1997 and the 17’s (as a 16 year old, we might add!) in 1998.

That strong family connection and love for the club never left. Since 2014, Ben has been a major sponsor, helping the club grow and thrive. Over the years, his support has gone beyond the annual sponsorship, contributing to the roll-out of new jumpers across the age groups and ensuring the players wear their colours with pride.

From Player to Coach

In 2020, Ben returned to the club in a new role: coach. Starting with the Year 1 Dolphins, he has guided the same group of boys all the way through to their current Year 5 season. This year was a particularly rewarding one, with the team improving enormously, notching up wins against every side they faced. The crew enjoyed belting out the team song after each game.
For Ben, the highlight is seeing the boys’ growth and joy on the field, and he’s committed to continuing his coaching journey with them (he clarifies: as they’ll continue to have him!)

Seacrest Oval: The Home of Junior Footy by The Coast

Seacrest is more than just a footy field, it’s where so many stories in Sorrento begin. From those first Auskick sessions to lifelong friendships formed on the sidelines, Seacrest has always been a place that brings people together. Beyond the game, it’s a community hub: a dog-friendly park filled with locals out on daily walks, and the home of the Sorrento Night Markets that light up Friday evenings in summer. Week after week, Seacrest buzzes with energy, reminding us that it’s not just about sport – it’s about the shared moments and connections that make this community special.

Building a Strong Future For Football in Sorrento

The pathway from juniors through to senior footy at Sorrento Football Club Perth is one of the things that makes this club so special. Watching kids grow from Auskick right through to senior footy is proof of the strength of this community and the dedication of volunteers, families, and supporters who make it possible.
Wrapping Up the 2025 Season

As the 2025 season comes to a close, we want to congratulate every player, coach, volunteer, and family who helped make it such a success. Your energy and commitment are what make this club thrive.

Ray White Keevers Group is proud to have supported another season with the Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club and with Ben’s personal ties to the club running so deep, that support will always be close to our hearts.

Here’s to an even bigger and better 2026 season!
