2. Pump Station Murals – West Coast Drive
As you wander north along West Coast Drive, keep an eye out for the electrical water pump stations that add unexpected bursts of colour to the coastline. Once plain concrete blocks, these structures have been transformed by the Water Corporation in collaboration with local artists into vibrant mini-canvases celebrating our coastal lifestyle.
Along this stretch, you’ll spot The Crab mural by Samantha Prentice , the iconic Hayley Welsh “Little Voice” mural featuring her whimsical characters, and Darren Hutchens’ playful Front Lawn piece each one bringing its own personality and creativity to the trail. Together, they create a true “Splash of Colour” and a reminder of how art can brighten even the most unexpected places.
3. Seeded Sunflowers – Flora Terrace
A short detour inland will lead you to Flora Terrace, North Beach, where a bursts of bright yellow welcome you along the strip. You can find largest of the Seeded Sunflowers murals on the side of Embarc Clinic. Painted by local artist Holly Ogden during the COVID lockdowns, these murals were created to bring a little sunshine and hope to those in isolation (and they have continued to do just that ever since!)
4. Swamp to Sea – Mt. Flora Museum
Head up the hill to the Mt Flora Regional Museum in Watermans Bay, home to the striking “Swamp to Sea” mural by acclaimed Perth artist Brenton See . Painted on the site’s old water tank – now a museum – this artwork beautifully captures the transition from inland wetlands to the open ocean.
Inspired by the museum’s unique location between Star Swamp Bushland and Watermans Bay on the Indian Ocean, the mural celebrates the journey of our local landscape and wildlife from swamp to sea. It’s a stunning blend of art, history, and nature — and a must-visit stop for anyone exploring the northern coastal trail.

5. Marmion Divers Trail & MAAC Mural
Back at sea level, stop by the Marmion Angling & Aquatic Club (MAAC) to see two incredible artworks celebrating our local marine life and coastal heritage.
The Marine Life of Marmion Marine Park mural, painted by Perth artist Amok Island, stretches across the MAAC car park and depicts the vibrant underwater ecosystem just offshore. At the time it was completed, this project was the largest single-span mural in the southern hemisphere, showcasing the artist’s signature geometric style and love of ocean biodiversity.
Just nearby, another mural by Brenton See, commissioned by MAAC, highlights his passion for wildlife – an interest heavily inspired by David Attenborough’s documentaries. See’s piece captures the beauty and diversity of the marine species that call Marmion Marine Park home, tying art and conservation together in one stunning coastal setting.
Below the surface, the Marmion Divers Trail adds another layer of creativity – a series of submerged sculptures and plaques that let divers and snorkellers explore Western Australia’s rich marine life from an entirely new perspective.

Painted by Peter Ryan with the help of Mullaloo Beach Primary School students, the two murals on the Sorrento Beach toilet block celebrate community, creativity, and our coastal lifestyle. A familiar backdrop for sunrise swims and sunset fish and chips, it’s another reminder of how art connects us to the places we love most.
